INCENTIVES AND RECOGNITION

The University of California 4H Youth Development Program engages youth in reaching their fullest potential while advancing the field of youth development.

The purpose of the INCENTIVES AND RECOGNITION program is to recognize the motivation of 4H members and leaders for participation, creativity and achievement in 4H.

Incentives for 4H PARTICIPATION include:
-Opportunities for social interaction.
-Opportunity to lern new and valued skills.
-Opportunity to contribute to group and community.

Incentives for 4H ACHIEVEMENT include:

- Acquiring a valued skill or knowledge.
-Informal recognition for one's skill or worth from peers and valued adults.
-Formal recognition such as awards or achievement.

Recognition is most valuable for
-Participation in activities
-Progress toward personal goals.
-Achievement through peer competition.
-Accomplishment through cooperation
